Tornadoes Are Rare, but Real – Let a VFL Protect Your Roof!

Tornadoes in Knoxville are most common in spring (March to May), when warm, moist air clashes with cold fronts. The National Weather Service reports that East Tennessee averages 1–2 tornadoes annually, typically EF0 to EF2, with winds of 65–135 mph. While rare, these storms can uproot trees, hurl debris, and devastate homes. As a Volunteer who’s weathered tough games, I know preparation and quick response are key to tackling tornado damage.

Understanding Tornadoes in Knoxville

How Tornadoes Wreak Havoc on Your Roof

Tornadoes are like an SEC defensive line – relentless and destructive. High winds can rip off shingles, tear away flashing, or even lift entire roof sections. Flying debris, like branches or patio furniture, can puncture your roof, letting water seep in. Even weaker tornadoes can loosen shingles, setting the stage for leaks during the next rain. At Daniel Hood Roofing Systems, we’ve seen it all – from scattered shingle loss in Karns to major structural damage in Fountainhead. Our licensed and insured team is ready to assess and repair every type of tornado damage.
