What we found
A homeowner contacted Daniel Hood Roofing Systems after purchasing a property and wanting to replace the aging roof. During the inspection, found several serious issues, including large sections of missing shingles, exposed underlayment, and areas where both the shingles and felt paper had been completely torn away, leaving bare wood vulnerable to water intrusion. Moisture testing confirmed active leaks, with moisture levels reaching 20% in damaged areas.
The inspection also revealed 67 missing shingles, creating more than 130 potential leak points due to exposed, rusted fasteners. In addition, the roof’s outdated ridge ventilation system was trapping excessive heat, which can accelerate shingle deterioration and make the roof more susceptible to wind damage.
What we did
To resolve these issues, the roof will need to be replaced, damaged areas repaired, leak points sealed, and a modern ventilation system installed to improve airflow, reduce heat buildup, and provide long-term protection against future water damage.
